چکیده

Obesity incidence has been increasing at an alarming rate, especially in women of reproductive age. It is estimated that 50% pregnancies occur overweight or obese women. described maternal obesity (MO) predisposes the offspring to increased risk developing many chronic diseases early stage life, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). CVD main cause death worldwide among men women, it manifested a sex-divergent way. Maternal nutrition MO during gestation could prompt development through adaptations offspring’s system womb, cardiac epigenetic persistent metabolic programming signaling pathways modulation mitochondrial function. Currently, despite diet supplementation, effective therapeutical solutions prevent deleterious function by obesogenic womb are lacking. In this review, we discuss mechanisms which intrauterine environment program metabolism way, with special focus on function, debate possible strategies implement pregnancy ameliorate, revert, even effects system. The artificial womb.

The availability of computer-controlled artificial hearts, kidneys, and lungs, as well as the possibility of implanting human embryos in ex vivo uterus models or an artificial endometrium, presents new perspectives for creating an artificial uterus. Survival rates have also improved, with fetuses surviving from as early as 24 weeks of gestation. These advances bring new opportunities for comple...

Does breast cancer start in the womb?

Perturbations in the foetal environment predispose individuals to diseases that become apparent in adulthood. These findings prompted researchers to hypothesize that foetal exposure to environmental oestrogens may play a role in the increased incidence of breast cancer observed in European and US populations over the last 50 years. There is widespread human exposure to bisphenol A, an oestrogen...

Deal in the womb: fetal opiates, parent-offspring conflict, and the future of midwifery.

This paper argues that parent-offspring conflict is mediated by placental beta-endorphins in placental mammals, i.e., foetuses make their mothers endorphin-dependent then manipulate them to increase nutrient allocation to the placenta. This hypothesis predicts that: (1) anatomic position of endorphin production should mirror its presumed role in fetal-maternal conflict; (2) endorphin levels sho...

The womb and lung function later in life.

The information about the in utero influences on the development of the lungs and lung function is limited. No measurements are available at present to objectify this, and all studies in humans describing early determinants of airway function mention placental function, birth weight in relation to gestational age, sex and ethnicity, environmental factors, such as smoking, nutrition of the mothe...
